Hi Ramona! I really liked the pictures. It gave the feeling of "saudade" of Lisboa. i really miss it. Just a few corrections: in Lisboa the view from Castelo de Sao Jorge we can see a bridge named " Ponte 25 Abril". Before the revolution it was named "Ponte Salazar" which was the name of the dictator. In Sintra there's a picture of you with the city hall after you ( it's not a church!). I hope to see you soon. This site was a very pleasant surprise. |

Thank you for allowing me to see the many faces of Portugal, my birthplace 56 years ago. I now reside in USA and have been here over 40 years but still miss my beautiful Portugal and the food, music and culture. It is expensive to go back often, however, I plan a visit in the near future, God willing! |

Thank you for bringing us wonderful reminiscences of our 4 visits to Portugal, beginning in 1986, the last in 1994, always traveling by car. In 1988 we spent a month each in San Pedro near Sintra and in Sagres. Portugal remains our favorite European country--the people, the ambience, the scenery. Although the Algarve is popular, you were fortunate to visit the north. Sorry you missed Lamego. Oh, for a visit to a pastelaria--and some caldo verde and cataplana. |

I lived in Cascais from January 1995 - October 1999 and I did not realize how much I missed it until looking through your pictures. I worked at NATO in Oeiras so managed to mingle with the Portuguese professionally as well as socially. Great country, great people but takes getting used to when you are there to live and not just vacation ! Highly recommended Country to visit

My friend and I are planning a trip to Portugal in early March 2005. It was so much fun seeing your website and it has made our desire to go that much stronger. I hope we have as good weather as you did on your trip. Thanks so much for putting this together for people to see how beautiful Portugal is! |

Wonderful! I found your site completely by accident - my choir and I are going to be singing at three concerts in Amarante and I wanted to see the area. I found your Amarante pics and went forward and back trying to find the home page! I eventually found a way to the Indian site, which sent me back to the Portuguese one and the beginning!! Your photos are beautiful and we now cannot wait to go! We will be out there early July 2004 and now we have seen just how wonderful the area is we just want to see it all!! Our ex conductor has a villa in Amarante and this is our connection with the area. He thinks your site is lovely too. Only one thing, please, make it easier to find the beginning!! Thanks! |

I just wanted to say that this is quite a nice site. Two years ago already I visited Portugal and it was the first time I've ever left the country. It was a wonderful experience for me and I like coming to this site every now and again to look at the pictures. I of course have my own pictures, but it is nice to see how Portugal was experienced in other peoples lives. If you ever go back be sure to update the site! Thank you. |

Your site is fantastic and the pictures brought back great memories from mine and my friend Adam's trip to northern Portugal this summer. We drove from Derby, England and after a week of many adventures settled in Vila Praia d'Ancora but ventured out to many towns including the magnificent Braga. An amazing place. The cafe next to one of the many fountains in your picture was the setting for possibly the most unusual meal I have ever tasted. Being useless English types, we opted for the two steak dishes on the menu, having no idea what would turn up. "I hope it's nothing to do with eggs" I remarked, being not the biggest fan of chicken by-products. When the rather attractive waitress brought our dishes Adam was extremely quick to claim the steak, chips and salad, which left me with a combination of steak, pickled cauliflower, soggy bacon and what could only be described as crisps (potato chips to you Americans) topped off with a fried egg! I'll definitely be goingback to northern Portugal and hopefully my next experience of the local cuisine will be more successful! Thanks again for a great site. Ben/ |

I visited (just incidently when looking for pictures of my wife's home town Vila Praia de Âncora) your site about Portugal (my country) and I found it beautiful and very interesting. Your photos are excelent and form a very good portrait of some of our natural and architectural values. The general impressions that you describe about the land and the people seem quite correct to me. I was amazed by the quantity of things that you were able to see and learn about Portugal in such a short visit (15 days, wasn't it?). Thanks a lot for your beautiful site exposing such a good image of my country. Carlos |

Thanks a lot for sharing your photos with everyone. I've been to Nazare 3 times and it's wonderful. My fiancee, Mario is from Nazare, so we are hoping to buy a home there next year. I'd love to hear more from you. I'm glad you enjoyed Nazare. By the way, did you see or even rent any of the tents on the beach? Mario's grandmother, who sadly passed away this year, owned them. They've now been left to Mario's father. Bye and thanks again |

Hello, Thank you very much for putting your pictures on the net, they remind me of all the good times I had when I lived in Lisboa for a 1 year and 2 days, of course I went to other cities. There's something in that country that makes people look and feel so beautiful, we are all beautiful there. You have filled my heart with such happiness, may God bless you for that, and for all the other people around the world that feel that same pain of leaving Portugal and get such joy in seeing your pictures. Thank you very much again! Love, Diana from Lisboa |

Great site, beautiful pictures, very good comments. Just a little correction, if I may: the main square you are referring to in Oporto is not the Praça da República but rather the Praça da Liberdade which is in the Avenida da Liberdade and right downtown Oporto. The Praça da República does exist and is not very far from this one. But this Praça da Liberdade is indeed the "main square in Oporto" as you say. |

What a wonderful collection. My main keepsake from our trips is a photo collection with captions, not unlike yours. We plan to travel to Portugal in April 2002. We will visit many of the places shown in your travelogue.

We have visited the Algarve on at least 20 occasions not having the courage to visit the Lisbon area due to stories of dirty resorts, thieving, etc. Your wonderful site has made us think again and we have already arranged a 4-night stay for April '02. Thank you for your most articulate and illustrative tour. If you have a few moments to spare could you please pass on more info regarding the Pensao Nova Sintra. Is it worth booking? Thank you again. |

Hello, I'm a portuguese from Nazare. At this point I dont visit my hometown from more than 1 year now, since I'm living in Holland. Through your pictures I could see again some of the places I know so well. Obviously there is not time for everything, but I can assure you both that Nazare has a lot more to offer on it's surroundings. Thank you for the experience. |

Wow---I really enjoyed your Portugal travelogue. I have done Portugal twice, many of the same places you have visited, and love it. I have a photo collection that is also excellent but in slides and not digital format. I have also planned some itineraires to Portugal for others, although my primary work is in travel to Italy. I really wish I had your web skills. My feeble attempt at a web page can be seen at the given url.
VERY NICE WORK ! AND, I AGREE WITH YOUR NARRATIVE. THANKS FOR THE JOURNEY. |

Tks for including us among those who could view these beautifully taken (thanks to the camera!!) pictures. We have enjoyed looking at them just as much as you both have enjoyed your holiday there. Noel, is that your picture taken in the marketplace....seemingly doing the 'quickstep' with some fat Portuguese mama...ay, where was Ramona?? I'm just jokin' ok. The photographer needs to be commended!! Great pictures!! Bye for now, keep in touch and let us know when we can expect to see you both in TO. Most welcome anytime. God Bless!
